You have probably had the thought, "I should eat healthier", but have you ever asked yourself what that really means to you? Social media leads us to believe eating healthy can only look one way by zooming in on specific nutrients, causes for disease, and blanket recommendations, but we need to zoom out. Nutrition (and health) is so individual to who you are as an unique human. Not every food choice is make-it or break-it, regardless of what our health goals are. Let's work together to figure out what is best for YOU!
Navigating daily food choices can be exhausting due to decision fatigue and executive dysfunction. The constant need to decide what, when, and how to eat becomes quickly becomes an overwhelming task that leaves you feeling drained, frustrated, and likely late night eating.
Together we can work together to implement more structure around food to minimize decision-making throughout the day. By creating a individualized and manageable routine we can reduce stress and increase consistency of meals/snacks. This will help you gain confidence in your ability to nourish yourself effectively and create a more balanced and supportive eating pattern.
Eating disorders can cause food to occupy your mind constantly, leaving little room for other aspects of life. Whether it is an obsession with meal planning, calorie counting, or food choices, these thoughts are dominating your thoughts leading to anxiety and mental fatigue.
Together we can incorporate mindful eating techniques that encourage presence and awareness during meals, alongside recognizing patterns that trigger obsessive food thoughts. By identifying these patterns, you can begin to break the cycle of rigid rules, shifting your focus towards experiencing food in a more relaxed and enjoyable way, ultimately freeing up mental space for other aspects of life.
We use non-diet frameworks and principles within our practice because they focus on improving quality of life instead of restriction around food. Instead of focusing on things that need to be cut out, we firmly believe that shifting the focus on to what can be added to improve your health and overall well-being relieves fears of restriction and prevents triggers due to deprivation. There is also extensive research that shows that these frameworks lead to decreased rates of eating disorders, and disordered eating behaviors, as well as increased positive health outcomes.
I'm a Registered Dietitian passionate about helping you build a better relationship with food and your body while embracing your “neurospicy” brain. As someone who is autistic, has Celiac disease, and previously struggled with an eating disorder, I get it—food stuff can be tricky! But you don’t have to figure it out alone.
My counseling approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. Together we’ll create a safe space where you can feel validated and empowered to achieve meaningful change. With over 5 years of experience, I’m excited to share my knowledge and insights to support you on your journey. No matter who you are, I look forward to working alongside you to tackle whatever unique food challenges you face.
As a neurodivergent friend (hello ADHD!), I feel especially passionate about helping you work with your "neurospicy" brain instead of against it! Identifying key components of your current relationship with food helps us meet you where you are at. Everyone is different, so having a better understanding of where you are is much more important than where I think we should start.
My counseling style is nurturing, compassionate and fun. Yes fun -- eating doesn't have to feel like following rules and regulations! Let's rediscover the joys of food so it can be enjoyable and a time you take for yourself and enjoy time with others.
